Our puppies are bred with a focus on maintaining characteristics reminiscent of their wild ancestors, such as resilience, independence, and strong pack bonds. Unlike traditional domesticated breeds, they often exhibit heightened senses, enhanced problem-solving abilities, and a deep instinctual connection with their human companions. Additionally, their upbringing emphasizes socialization, training, and enrichment activities tailored to their natural instincts, fostering a deeper understanding and stronger bond between owner and pet. These factors contribute to our dogs being uniquely suited for individuals seeking a deeper connection and a more symbiotic relationship with their canine companions.
Our dogs are American Wolfhound, a designer dog breed founded by us here at Wolves Art Collective & Wolves.Dog. A mixed breed of Akita, Husky, and Gray Wolf lineage, selected and curated for strong genes and phenotypes. The American Wolfhound is unique for its physical characteristics and also for the artistic approach taken in its breeding by Wolves Art Collective.
We approach dog breeding as an extension of our creative practice. Each dog is carefully bred to have striking and unique physical features, such as unusual eye colors and distinctive coat patterns.
We use a home raising method that replicates the pack development of wolves. We raise our puppies with both parents, emphasizing their personalities and emotional intelligence. This focuses on nurturing dogs that not only look unique, but also have distinctive and engaging temperaments. We value traits like confidence, adaptability, communication, and expressiveness. Our puppies tend to be highly communicative with distinct human expressions and personalities that are like no other.
The blend of art and breeding creates a unique pedigree where the dogs are not just pets but are also seen as living embodiments of our ancient companions. This approach distinguishes the American Wolfhound from other designer breeds.
Please contact us for pricing and availability.
The price reflects the commitment to the undertaking and financial investment to provide for the lifetime of these dogs. This includes high-quality food, veterinary care, grooming, training, and other essentials to ensure the dog's health and well-being. Additionally, the price demonstrates a commitment to providing a comfortable and enriching lifestyle for the dog, which can include access to spacious living quarters, toys, and enrichment activities. Overall, the price of acquiring one of our puppies reflects the owner's ability and dedication to meeting the pet's needs and providing a loving, supportive home environment.
It also reflects the meticulous breeding process involved in combining specific traits from two unique and naturally mated parents. We carefully selected our original parent dogs with distinctive coat patterns and colors to create puppies with unique markings and looks. Guided through health screenings, genetic testing, proper care, early socialization and other natural enrichment, our dogs are not your normal dog.
You will be able to contact us with any questions or concern for the life of your dog. You will also be part of a community of dogs and owners, all with lineage from our founding litter. Depending on where you live, you will be invited to dog meet ups, open conversations about our dogs, events, and other aspects of the Wolves.Dog community. You may also have access to free boarding courtesy of our community, being able to leave your puppy with other members of their canine family for vacation can help alleviate the worry of boarding facilities or leaving your dog with a stranger. Breeding rights are also available.
This breed has a complex personality that can be challenging to raise. They are physically powerful, reserved with strangers, and protective. Training is a challenge you must rise to, as they are assertive and strong-willed. They communicate very clearly and may use their intelligence in ways that suit their own purposes. This breed must be treated with respect, and you must insist that they return that respect, or they will walk right over you. Our dogs are not a good choice for a first-time big dog owner. Our puppies are loyal, courageous, and have a dignified presence. They require a confident owner who can take charge and provide them with the proper socialization and training. You will be rewarded with a true companion like no other.
Our dogs are in happy homes with
- Multiple dogs
- Small dogs such as a chihuahua
- Children of all ages
- Seniors
-And even cats!
And they will love and protect the whole pack.
Despite their size, our puppies don't require hours of exercise. They do well with long walks and playtime.
Our puppies are raised in our home within a pack of their siblings and parents. They receive constant socialization and engagement with people and other dogs.
Feeding our puppies requires a balanced diet that meets the nutritional needs of our mixed breed. We recommend high quality grain-free dog food mixed with meat and dog safe produce. Here are some general recommendations:
High-Quality Grain Free Dog Food: The dog food for your puppy must be safe, affordable, and made with high-quality ingredients (predominantly meat). The volume of food will also depend on weight and activity level.
Raw Food: Raw chicken and beef for example, including carcasses, backs, necks, legs, wings, and organs. The food should also change with age to include bones and organs. They provide a good source of protein, essential nutrients like amino acids and fatty acids, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin B12.
Vegetables & Fruits: Other than meats, vegetables and fruits also provide a good level of nutrition. Pumpkin is an excellent source for preventing various health problems. Other safe foods include dog safe peanut butter, shrimp, salmon, carrots, and broccoli.
Remember, every dog is unique and may have different dietary needs. Please consult us, a veterinarian or a pet nutritional expert to determine the best diet for your puppy.
Our puppies will naturally keep themselves incredibly clean. We recommend that you brush your pup monthly. Grooming is a bonding exercise and should be done initially by pet owners themselves. This is a way to earn trust, show affection and show pack leadership. Take your pup to a groomer, never cut your puppy's hair yourself. For bathing and washing, we use our own hand crafted dog safe soap that keeps our pups smelling great through sunshine and rain, naturally deodorizing with hints of lavender. Feel free to use any dog safe shampoo or contact us for bars of our natural dog safe soap!
We perform health testing on all of our breeding dogs for hip and elbow dysplasia, and hereditary eye diseases.
Yes, all of our puppies and parents are up to date on their vaccinations.
We would recommend waiting until 18 months of age to neuter or spay our puppies. The Akita Club of America recommends waiting until at least 12 months to neuter your Akita, and us, like many breeders recommend you to wait until at least 18 months.
You may contact us at any time for advice. We treat our pups owners as extended family and the health and happiness of our pups is always our number one priority.
